Inspired to effect change for tomorrow’s young people as a Youth Support volunteer in CAMBODIA? Flat Volunteer Youth Support project enables volunteers to assist with after-school programs for students from disadvantaged communities. Volunteers will gain youth work experience while providing young people with a safe, positive and supportive environment where they can gather, connect and take part in constructive activities.

What to expect and how you'll make an impact

Numerous community initiatives in CAMBODIA strive to provide a supportive after-school environment for young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds who might otherwise have limited options for constructive activities. These programs offer a vital space for youth to gather, socialize, and engage in various enriching activities.

As a Youth Support volunteer, you will work with students aged 11 to 18 after school hours, or assist in caring for infants and toddlers, supporting mothers who need to work or study. Your role is crucial in shaping these young minds; you will serve as a positive influence, motivating them to consider their futures and encouraging them to set and achieve personal goals.

Typical volunteer duties include:

·         Organizing games and structured activities

·         Supervising and interacting with the youth

·         Assisting with school assignments/projects

·         Conducting informal English lessons

·         Leading arts and crafts sessions

·         Performing other necessary tasks as needed

Additionally, you might work with young mothers, helping them improve their English informally, or caring for their children while they attend school or work. During school breaks, volunteers often assist with external activities, such as recreational events.

When you volunteer with young people in CAMBODIA you’ll be adding value to the local community, while also developing personally and professionally by:
